Traces are evidence of time, they arouse ideas, expectations and associations, for they are observers of the present. They can be seen and interpreted in many different ways: We perceive them in relation to the world around us, both spatially, in landscapes and our cities, concretely on buildings and facades; we perceive them in a social context, with the accompanying major changes the internet gave us. And every one of us observes traces of time very personally: we get older, experience losses and see the next generation grow up.
All of these aspects reflect the VBK's big anniversary exhibition on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. With their works, the artists raise philosophical, sociological, political and creative questions. The creatively designed works by 75 artists from the VBK, in which fiction and reality sometimes merge, invite visitors to engage in thoughtful collaboration.
